The Norwegian Student Choral Society ((ノルウェー語:Den norske studentersangforening)) is a Norwegian Male Voice Choir, founded in 1845 by Johan Didrik Behrens. It is one of the oldest male voice choirs in Norway and the official choir for the University of Oslo. Premièring a number of well known pieces, including Norway's national anthem "Ja, vi elsker dette landet", they are most commonly known for their yearly concert on 17 May, Norwegian Constitution Day Norwegian. The concert is transmitted live over NRK radio, from the steps of University Hall. The choirs' first official performance took place at Henrik Wergelands funeral. Commonly referred to as "DnS" by members and friends, the choir holds regular concerts and performances, independently and in collaboration with other artists, choirs and orchestras. ==Present Day Choir== As of September 2015, the choir has 60 active singers conducted by Carl Høgset. It consists of the so-called "Concert Choir", containing the most active members, and a number of older members, with their own conductor, who go by the name "DnX". DnS have competed in a number of international competitions.
